Champion

Kellan loves this sport and is driven to be the best. That drive and motivation came out at NYWAY States. Kellan is now a NYWAY State Champion!! Kellan pinned his way to the finals. In the finals he was going up against the #2 ranked kid in the State (Kellan was ranked #3). The match was a nail bitter and at the end Kellan got his hand raised with a 12-9 decision.

The word 'Heart' is thrown around a lot in wrestling, but its the only word that accurately describes Talan. Talan worked his tail off to get down to 75lbs for NYWAY States. There were 5 ranked kids in his bracket, including 2 wrestlers tied for #1 and the #5, #6, #7 ranked kids in the State (Talan was ranked #9 in the State going into States). Talan won his first match and then lost to the #5 ranked kid. He would have to win his next 2 matches to place, both matches were against kids he lost to last year at States. Talan won his first match 9-2 and then pinned the next kid. The 5th/6th place match was a rematch of this years NYWAY Central Regional Finals, where Talan got pinned. Talan went out there determent to get revenge and he did, pinning the #7 ranked kid in the State!! Talan got revenge on 3 kids that have beat him, on the big stage. Like I said, HEART!!!

2nd Place

Talan took 2nd this past weekend, in by far the toughest bracket of the tournament. Talan had 3 former state placers/ranked kids in his bracket. Talan put the pedal to the floor and went after these kids. He revenged a loss to a wrestler who beat him badly last year at Ogdensburg. He then went out there and pinned a former ranked wrestle. In the finals he went up against a kid he had just lost to last week 8-4. He went after this kid hard. Pushing the pace the entire match, the other kid was stalling/running away. Talan ended up losing a close 3-2 match coming on a controversial loss of control point in the final seconds. I couldn't be more proud of Talan. He has come so far and continues to try and wrestle the best competition in NY. Making him one of the most improved wrestlers on the team.
